Quick answers

Is this a fitness app?: No. Foray works for any kind of plan — dinners, shows, road trips, gallery openings, escape rooms. Workouts are detected if you opt in to HealthKit or Google Fit, but the loop is the same for a steakhouse.
Will my battery die?: We lean on iOS/Android’s significant-location and motion APIs first, and only escalate to live GPS during an active adventure window. Background detection costs battery on the order of music playing in your pocket.
What does Foray actually see?: Pointers, not pixels. The app keeps timestamps, route shapes, and metadata on your device, and sends evidence references — never your photos, never message content. You control which sources are on. You can turn passive detection off entirely and the rest of the app still works.
How much does it cost?: Free to join, free for free outings. Paid bookings cost what they’d cost on the partner site (we’re affiliated, not marked-up).
